Mens Hoody – An Táin

55.00

An Táin (pronounced ‘un tawn’, meaning ‘the bull’ in Irish) depicts a battle scene from the 12th century epic poem An Táin Bó Cualigne. On behalf of the red haired warrior Queen Medb (pronounced ‘Maeve’) the warriors of Connacht (Galway, Leitrim, Mayo, Roscommon and Sligo) confront those of Ulster (Northern Ireland) for possession of the great brown bull of Cooley. The wild queen marched her army around the Cooley Peninsula, County Louth in search of the powerfull Bull. The belief and fear of Queen Medb lives on in the west of Ireland. An original design by Mike O’Connor.

The large Bull design and the sword wielding fighting irish warriors are illustrated on the back, while the front has a small image of the mighty Bull alone.

I came across this website as I was researching the legend of the ‘táin’- I love the illustration to this story, I had just to buy one! I’m glad I did, it’s really cosy and washes great. I also avoid the tumble dryer so it doesn’t shrink!

Delighted I bought this hoodie, very happy to support a local business!
