This design was inspired by the 9th Century Book of Kells. The book of Kells featured many beautifully intertwining birds – they were considered to be ‘messengers of the gods’, as they could go back and forth to Heaven. We like to pronounce these as the ‘Belly Birds’. The smaller bird is similar to the bird on the old Irish penny that was in circluation until 2001. All the old Irish money (an punt) had animals on them, unlike the euro coinage now which has the harp on the flip side. An original design by Lisa O’Connor.

All our garments are pre-shrunk, and can be washed at 40 degrees. We do not recommend tumble drying, mainly because we’re Irish and we have the fear of the dreaded electricity bill!
