The boar (‘an torc’ in irish) were wild pigs native to Ireland considered sacred by the Celts. The Tuatha de Danann goddess Brigid was said to have owned Torc Triath, the king of the Boars. Brigid’s father, The Dagda, was said to have possessed two magical pigs –  one of which was always growing whilst the other was always roasting!
